The Institute for Competitiveness, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Department of Economics, UCC, and the MBA Association of Ireland, Southern Chapter present:

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP on OVERTURNING YOUR IMMUNITY TO CHANGE

delivered by

PROFESSOR ROBERT KEGAN OF HARVARD UNIVERSITY

on 02nd June 2010

Who would benefit?  If you lead, manage, supervise, consult, counsel, train, coach or teach – and personal improvement or team performance at work is one of your biggest concerns, this workshop is for you.

What will you learn?  A clear understanding of Professor Kegans mechanism on how we resist change, the means to overcome this resistance and how to build and use a powerful learning platform for professional and personal development.

What will happen during the workshop itself?  Robert Kegan is an expert at cultivating a safe, respectful, but intense community for personal learning. He will:

- guide you through a process of enhanced self-understanding
- help you to see the brilliant system you have created which generates exactly those behaviours that will prevent you from accomplishing your goal! (this is your immunity to change)
- show you why the system is so important to you (it's not because you want to fail, or are secretly uncommitted to making the change)
- build, with you, your own path to putting you in charge of your immune system (right now your immune system is in charge of you!)
- help you create an action-plan, design your first "experi-mental"™, and choose your preferred form of continued support

You won't leave without--

- a plan to continue
- a phone-date to check-in with your workshop partner (if you elect this support, which most everyone does)
- Kegan and Lahey's latest book, Immunity to Change: How to Overcome It and Unlock Potential in Yourself and Your Organization; and a host of self-help tools you may choose to support your change-journey

Dr Bob Kegan is  the The William and Miriam Meehan Professor in Adult Learning and Professional Development, at Harvard Educational Graduate School. Chair, Institute for Management and Leadership in Education and Co-director, Change Leadership Group.
He is a psychologist who teaches, researches, writes, and consults about adult development, adult learning, and professional development. His work explores the possibility and necessity of ongoing psychological transformation in adulthood; the fit between adult capacities and the hidden demands of modern life; and the evolution of consciousness in adulthood and its implications for supporting adult learning, professional development, and adult education.
