Mentoring programme planned for MBAs
Dublin

Printer Friendly VersionBookmark This Page

The MBAAI Subcommittee for Education is setting up a mentoring facility for MBAAI members.

A mentoring service shall be provided across the board on 3 distinct levels:

• New members of MBAAI,
• Networking among existing MBA graduates
• Repositioning of MBAs

The objectives of the service are to accelerate professional development of members, provide confidential independent feedback on career plans, transfer knowledge, skills and experience and to promote dialogue between hierarchies.  In addition this shall give MBAAI members an insight into other industries and help make corporate cultures more transparent.  It will also strengthen the capabilities of the MBAAI.

The service will provide a number of benefits to the mentee. He/she shall broaden his/her network, explore career opportunities, develop competencies, improve confidence and self esteem and gain visibility and sense of membership within the MBAAI.

However, it is not the mentee alone who shall benefit. The mentor shall achieve satisfaction from contributing to the mentee's development, gets the opportunity to share experience and skills and helps to develop his/her leadership skills. The mentor also benefits from maintaining contact with young professionals and can learn to understand viewpoints across different levels.

The Mentor programme will be a great opportunity to transfer knowledge and skills and to help motivate and retain members, and should encourage networking and increase participation at MBA Association events.

There will be a launch night for this facility and we would encourage all interested to join. For further information please contact Carol Walsh: carol.walsh.mba2009@smurfitschool.ie
